Sorry for the long title. Who gets annoyed with this? I know of a few people that start a forum each week about something different they often repeat themselves though. I know of one person that has done two promotion forums and two community forums. Why is there a need to repeat it? o_O

Because some people dont realise making a successful forum doesn't happen overnight.

I made one it has failed, but I do not keep on making forums. They think they can get users on their forums if they find something people like.

I'm guilty of this and I'm currently trying to quit the habit. I mostly did community forums as that's the genere of forums. I originally created a forum so I could see if I could do it. Then we had to move hosts because of stupid downtime, and after that I just could never seem to settle down to a host, or a name of a forum. I would open a board, leave it for two weeks, get a few members in, and then I'm either ready to quit or move on to another host. I got to learn that if I want to test so badly, I should just change permissions so that I myself can just play with it instead of advertising it to the public right away. Of course, mine was every two weeks, not exactly every week. But like I said, I am currently trying to cut this out.

Its only annoying when they do it over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.

I know of one guy who does this. He opens forums, some of them with very obscure and unsual subjects, and then closes them after a couple of weeks if they are not taking off. He doesnt like to promote them as he sees it as begging, but how can people join if they dont know the forum is out there?!

Then he whinges that noone joins his forum, closes it, and starts another one.

I hate that, how long does it take to realise that creating successful forum does not happen overnight, and promotion is begging, I can see why they fail.

Okay, the begging part doesn't make sense to me. How can promoting a forum be Begging? I mean, I would only consider it begging if a person updates their stats every, say, five seconds. And once again I just lost my train of thought lol. But I'm sure you get the picture though.

Well I suppose if you say something like check out my forum.. please join... maybe some people would consider that to be begging.

It doesnt make sense though to NOT promote a website but still expect members :/

I basically agree. I could understand doing it once or twice. But, you need to put forth effort to have a successful forum. Do some research about your host, etc., BEFORE you start a new forum and try to get it going.

I agree with this tbh. It's best that when you spot such a board owner that you avoid his/her forums like the flu. XD
