Pets cost money!

Typical American!I would spend every penny I had on my pets if it were feasible. As it is they get a huge chunk of my money on food, care, and so forth. They're spoiled

When we had a dog I figured out how much it cost to care for her, and it was about $32 a month (and that was 10 years ago!). I'm sure that the costs are even higher now with inflation and when my daughter said she wanted a dog at the beginning of the lockdowns, I told her it'd be expensive. She now knows I was right. Kids don't listen to their moms.
Was that $32 just for food?
It is no longer new that to acquire the pets that you like, you will have to spend a lot of money on it. Something that I also don't understand is how the food is also expensive. Maybe because dogs and cats are in high demands over here.
Maybe because all pet food is made overseas and has to be imported to your country?
