What do you do with your pets during the winter? Especially on cold nights? If you have an inside pet, probably not much of a problem, but if you have an outside pet, what do you do?

I have an outside dog named Flossy. We have this light we put in her doghouse that keeps it warm in there. We also give her a lot of sheets and blankets in her doghouse so she can lay on them and be stay warm. Light and blankets seem to be doing the job so far.

Let me start by saying that I don't want to offend any member who leaves their dog/dogs outside. However, I don't see the point in owning a dog/dogs and leaving them outside all alone. Dogs are social animals and need love and attention from their owners. I feel that owning a dog/dogs make them part of the family. I would never leave a child out in the cold and to me this is what people are doing when they don't allow their dog/dogs inside where they are safe and warm.

Dogs are social, but they're all different. Some dogs are better inside than outside, but some dogs are better outside than inside. My dog would hate being inside all the time, because she likes to play with our neighbor's dogs, who are also outside dogs. She loves going for walks, loves barking at random people and cars going by, and I would hate to take that away from her. I truly believe she is happy outside, because if we brought her inside, I doubt she'd have near as much fun being confined to a small house versus a huge backyard where she can wonder and do whatever she wants.
