What is a tradition that everyone follows that you just don't see the point in?

(Basically any tradition in your society that you think is completely pointless.)

Graduation ceremonies for grades other than 12 and getting a degree.

Singing the National Anthem before sports games, especially when both teams are from the same country. :s

Never heard of that one. :|

american public school kids. you have to hold your breath when the school bus rolls past a cemetary or you will die soon.

Less of a tradition more of a superstition.

there's not usually much of a difference, is there? odd behaviors often stem from superstitions.

That was me, still never heard of it :P

maybe it died out because nobody ever died breathing while driving past a cemetery. my sister would get us nuts every time we went to my uncle's house because we had to drive past a big cemetery on the way.

I have another one:

New Year Resolutions.

Who the heck ever follows through?

People keeping their Christmas trees, wreaths, window decorations and outside displays up well past mid-January.
