Police officers save roadside heart attack victim - Video

Footage released by US police shows the moment officers in South Dakota saved the life of a man who had gone into cardiac arrest whilst riding in the passenger seat of a car.



Emergency services in Rapid City police were alerted to the incident by a 911 call from the victim's wife.



With Jeff Seamans not breathing, and his wife and stepdaughter understandably distressed, a trio of brave officers worked fast to drag the man onto a roadside verge and begin resuscitation attempts.



Using CPR and a portable defibrilator, officers Kathleen Callery, Chris Hunt and Michael Frybarger desperately tried to get Mr Seamans heart beating again before a passing nurse, Laurie Mills, stopped to help.



Just as paramedics arrive on the scene to take over, the quartet's rescue attempts succeed as Mr Seamans begins to breathe on his own.



The man was taken to a local hospital and was released a few days later.

Footage of the incident was captured on the dashboard camera of their patrol car.



All three officers have been honoured for their part in saving Mr Seaman's life, as was the passing nurse Ms Mills, who was given a community award.
