I bought a bag of pork rinds to eat while watching the World Cup knockout round.

Do you know how hard it is to find decent pork rinds?

Some of the name brands have these tiny strips of over salted fried nothingness that they want three dollars for. Others think they have to add essence of Filipino Death Pepper or something.

No. I just want pork rinds. With a little salt. And that's it.

I found them at Big Lots. Not a fancy supermarket. Not a Waly World special. Didn't have to go to a gourmet shop. Big Lots. One step, well, maybe a half step, above a dollar store. On the rack to things with names you've never heard of. Original Flavor, no carbs, no trans fat....

no blueberries, no organic garden herbs, no Swedish goat cheese, no fair trade anything.

Strips of pig parts in assorted sizes, deep fried, with a bit of salt.

Perfect.

So. What's your World Cup snack of choice?

My snack of choice is ruffle ridged potato chips with sour cream and onion dip

I love them. I think I am going to get some when I go to the store in a few minutes.
