So I've thought a little about this before, and even seen it mentioned by another elsewhere. But I kinda think it would be neat if a store or stores that got set up and specialized in Underground/Independent/Local Music would be a great thing to do. Artists would get another way to be heard. And it would bring in new jobs.

The only thing with underground/independent/local music is that not a lot of people listen to it, so business would be hard to come by because it is a very specific field.

You know how you see people who put massive holes in their earlobes to wear those silly earrings? A good business venture would be skin grafts to fix those holes, because I can guarantee that everyone who has them will regret it later in life.

That's a good idea. Wonder if plastic surgery is able to already do that? And yeah, but by bringing that kind of music to a more accessible way. More people would be able to hear it. Say you sell merch from Lyrikal Snuff Productions *actual group/label kind of thing mind you* you'd already have a small bit of business from that since there is bound to be people around in the area or near by that know of the group and would buy from you. And I imagine someone would get curious at one point. Or don't have the means to buy online and are able to get it at that store.

The music industry in any sense is a hard one to get in. I'm going to be honest; I've bought maybe 5 CD's in the past 5 years. Don't get me wrong, many people do. But a niche like that may prove to be a very difficult business venture.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained though right?

You need money to set up a store and if it doesn't work out then you've lost all the money you invested.

Just Google: Underground/Independent/Local Music stores and you will find there are hundreds of them.

Much lost in the form of money and time invested.

My Uncle, (married to my Dad's Sister) owns a new and used record store and they carry all kinds of local musician's CD's. It's called Flipside and it's in Clawson, MI. They carry all the well-known stuff too. I love getting all my music for cost!!!

Curiosity, what is average store cost/markup for CD's?
