Here is the progress that is going down in the community residence process:

1. The staff @ my program are going to have a meeting on Friday to help gather preliminary information.

2. After the Friday meeting, we will apply for case management for me. (hopefully to get the same case manager I had before).

3. Have a meeting with Mom, me and program @ program.

4. Make whatever progression necessary from there.

I hope I get my case manager back. I really liked my case manager and she will be able to help me with the housing application, social security, food stamps, going to evaluate various CRs so I end up in a good one, etc.

But so far, everything is positive so far.

(Still have not applied for the housing because we need more information first which is why the meeting on Friday is for, but I'd rather the slow method than rush and have difficulties down the road.)

Hello Andy!

Thank you for the update. Seems like things are moving even if it is slowly. May I ask how your Mom feels about this?

Mom is growing more accepting of the process that is about to take place. I try to keep her updated as to everything that is going on so that she is aware of everything that is going on, so that she is in the loop.

Must be very scary for Mom and you too. It's a big decision to leave home and also a new beginning as well. I wish you the very best of luck with this!

Thank you very much. I'll be sure to keep you guys up to date as I get more information.

You better or else I'll have to track you down and give you a good talking to!

I will not be moving into a community residence because doing so would take away my income and there would be no way mom can live with just her and bro's income.

She wouldn't be able to pay rent, etc with just her and bro's income anywhere.

So I'm going to stay living at home where I am now, and I'm going to work on learning the skills necessary to live in the Apartment Treatment Program (another type of mental health housing).

I have a goal of maybe trying in about 2 years when I turn 25.

Hello Andy!

I'm a firm believer that things happen for a reason. Perhaps you weren't ready yet to move out and need more time to plan it. I know you must be disappointed, but at least you have set another goal for yourself. It will happen with a lot of work and keeping a possitive attitude. Thank you for this update!

I'm not fully disappointed because at least I get to stay where I'm living and I can have my family help me out as I move on the path to independence so it's not a total loss.

I actually think looking at it, it's better doing it learning skills from home and moving out in the future, then being in a community residence. I'm sure CR's can be nice, but family is even nicer.

Hello Andy! I agree with you about the advantages of staying home. You're blessed with a caring and supportive family and you can't beat that!
