I was promoted to ambulance crew leader. I had to apply and was interviewed.
I once when I worked in the Corporate world went for a supervisor promotion. I did not get the promotion. I was disappointed but realized the person who got the position was more qualified than I was. I was happy for the person who was promoted because they deserved it over me.
I've never been promoted, before I go on I'll explain why. I worked at McDonalds for around 3 years, the boss didn't really like me because she could never remember my name and instead of calling me my name she would call me some other random persons name. She didn't like that I'd never respond to her but that's because I never knew she was talking to me.
Secondly I never got a promotion because she promoted the wrong people.. Want proof? Well here it is! She promoted about 3 people, 2 Managers and one Crew Leader. Let's start with the first Manager, well the first one is pretty funny, he stole over a thousand things from McDonalds, I mean like pop, food or stuff in the stock room. He would just back his truck up and bring stuff into the truck of his truck. He was also a druggie, and always came to work stoned. He did weed (not that bad but still you shouldn't be doing that at work, especially if you're the manager) he did coke, ex, speed and heroin. I think he got demoted after he got arrested for driving under the influence or the cops came and talked to the second big boss.
The second manager, well she needed to get her life together. I mean she was a great person and all, but she wouldn't show up sometimes, she would bring her house probelms and work and she would break down at work a lot. I understand because her boyfriend beats her and abuses her so I see where she is coming from but she should get her life on track instead of making it more stressful and becoming a manager. Anyways she would skip shifts and not be able to finish her work or get most of the things done because of her situation. So I would basically help her do most of it so she could go in the back and cry.
The Crew Leader, I have no idea why the boss would even promote her. She would NEVER work unless the boss was there, I mean we have cameras everywhere you'd think they'd catch on she doesn't do her work. She would flirt with 99% of the guys there (that's not so bad) but she wouldn't do her work at all, she would just flirt. She started lots of food fights, and she always picked favourites. And guess what? I wasn't one of them, she told me it was because I'm not popular at work and because I don't know how to have fun. However her type of fun is don't do any work while you're at work and flirt with the first guy you see. And I'm more of a we have customers let's serve them kind of person. Either way she skipped a lot too, or she'd take extra shifts and not come in because she made last minute plans with friends.
I remember one time I was working and she (The crew leader) was in as well as the second big boss, and the Crew leader told the boss that she could only work half of her shift that she took because she was going to a supper and it started at 6 so she had to leave. The boss was trying to tell her that she can't make her own hours and if she took the shift she took the whole shift so she had to stay until her shift was done. The the Crew Leader told the boss that she has a supper and she's not missing it because it's important and she just walked out and left. She didn't get fired nor did she get demoted which I think is B.S.
Anyways I never got promoted at Tim Hortons either because they only had 3 managers and they were there for at least 7 years.
I was going to get promoted at Dominos but uhm really bad things happened in my life and I didn't want to add the stress. Then I just quit because I was tired of people talking about me and what had happened that I couldn't take it. The whole place was crawling with rumors about me and I just couldn't take the stress.
