Do you allow proxy users on your forum?

We (my forum) is about to implament a new rule this week regarding proxys. We won't allow them, banned members have come back using proxys and make a mess. If we discover a proxy we chat with them about the situation and if no real good explanation is given or they are proven to be a banned member, we ban them. Again (if so).

On Jcink, you can actually block proxies from even accessing the board at all. I wish other hosts/softwares would pick up on this feature as it would make ip bans much more effective if you could kill the use of proxies. I don't have any reason to really check ips most of the time but if it looks suspicious then i probably do a check for proxies. Most users on proxies are just banned users evading a ban if anything.

I think coming on a forum whilist using a proxy and being banned is probably a common sense rule. I mean, if you're banned from a forum, it means you can't come back anymore. There's no trying to avoid it because you'll just be caught yet again. I too think that proxies are only a way to avoid being banned, in my opinion.

Some paranoid people see it as a way to keep their privacy intact and or surf the web on previously blocked websites by their parents or whatnot
