Nice concept good luck with your site! I think it has lot's of potential if you get the correct crowd joined up!

Our October contest is now in full swing! We are hosting a scary story contest, so if you're interested in what goes bump in the night, make sure to check this one out! To view contest details, make sure to check out the contest thread.

We also have also added a new section to PoW, 'Other Arts.' This section for those who may not necessarily write or draw, but perhaps sing, play an instrument, that are into photography, video making/editing, and more.

Want to keep updated with what's going on with PoW? Find us on Facebook and/or follow us on Twitter.

There have been a lot of updates happening on Psychology of Writing these past few weeks. Some of which, one may not even notice, but fear not, I’ll tell you all about them.

We have finally decided on a chat for PoW, which can be found on the bottom of the index page. You can customize not only your font color, but your font style as well. Is this chat going to be permanent? Don’t know. If a better, more advance, chat comes along, the current one may be replaced down the line. We also have a handful of new smilies thanks to our Global Critic, Reina. ^^ We also have a new set of ranks for our Critics and a new banner has also been added to the site; though we’re unsure as to how long the latter will be up as there is rumor of a theme change after Halloween.

Our new section, “Other Arts,” is now completely finished and now contains the appropriate instructs on how to insert audio to your post for those musically inclined. We have also added an award system, so that members may acquire awards for helping the site in one way or another. Celebrating a birthday? You get a special birthday award to wear on your profile for that day. Speaking of profiles, we have added a Skype modification, enabling you to add your Skype name and allow other users to know if you’re using Skype to chat or if you’re currently offline.

We’ve added a lot and there’s still more to come, but have removed one thing from the site. The Advertising section has been removed due to the abuse of it by guests. People weren’t following the rules, so it had to go. Sorry to those who actually followed the rules, but it only takes one person to ruin it for everyone; though, in this case, it was more than just one.

So, I think that about covers all of the changes, but I still have one more thing to announce before I close this up. Psychology of Writing is currently hosting a Scary Story Contest for the Halloween season. All entries will be posted throughout Halloween day and the winning story will be posted at midnight on October 31st; for more information on the contest, Click Here. Also on Halloween, we are planning on hosting a small event. Nothing huge, just a bit of fun, so make sure to stop by on October 31st to join in on the festivities!

Welp, I think that about covers everything that’s been going on over on PoW. Make sure to take a moment and come check us out. We hope to see you there!

There have been quite a few changes on Psychology of Writing as of late. If you haven’t had the chance to log on recently, here’s what you’ve missed.

We now have a “Welcome” message to greet you and other guests when they first view the site. We feel as if this makes the site a bit more personable and welcoming. Our rules have also been updated to make them clearer for both members and Critics so that misunderstandings do not happen. If you feel as if you have been unfairly punished for breaking a rule, feel free to contact Somnium Shadow, this also goes for if you do not understand a rule.

We now also have a new Award System to give awards to those members who have gone above and beyond for the site, have done something memorable, or have preformed the secret task. PoW is now also equipped with a new theme; though, we are in the process of looking into a brand new custom theme, so make sure to keep an eye out for that.

The most recent change is the layout of the forums and the addition of new ones. We now have a contest forum, and a psychology forum. We also now have a section for artistic discussion and writing discussions in which you may talk about your styles, techniques, your DeviantArt pages, your blogs, and more. We also now offer writing challenges to get those creative juices flowing. This is probably the biggest change of the site that has happened recently, so make sure to stop by to check it out.

We would also like to take a moment to welcome the newest members that have joined us this past week: Look Alive Sunshine (our newest member), eddyhendricks5, Raptor, Wolfy, Ellevazi, russianzsoup, Rhea Valente, Sir Fredric, Rok, rucell2006, Raven_Love_92, and iStephesaurus. Welcome all of you! We hope that you have been enjoying the community.

Happy New Year from Psychology of Writing!

We hope you have a safe and happy celebration and a wonderful upcoming year.

In celebration of the New Year, we do have some new features for all of our members.

  • Gamer Tags - For the gamers out there, you may now add your Xbox Live, PS3, and Wii ID tags to your profile.
  • Skype ID - This feature was around for a short while, removed, and now it is back. Add your Skype name to your profile and start checking with your fellow PoWers.
  • Blogs - Each member can now access their own blog. With these blogs you can set it to “Private” or “Public”, add tags to your blog, and receive comments on your blog if you so choose.
  • New Theme - Unfortunately the new theme was not ready for the first day of the New Year, but it is coming. We hope to see the new theme in place sometime later this month, so make sure to keep an eye out.
  • Book Club - Psychology of Writing is now equip with a book club that all members may join via their UCP. We will pick a book to read and discuss every so often--depending on the length of the book it may be a longer or shorter amount of time. Once we are nearing the end of one book, we will vote on the next book to read.
  • New Chat Room - We are currently also looking into a new chat room with more features such as sound, private chats, and so on. We hope to have it installed within the next couple of days.

We hope that you enjoy the new features and those that will be implemented in the future. We are open to suggestions and would love to hear your ideas because without those suggestions and ideas, we will not be able to improve for the better.

We hope to see you soon at http://www.psychologyofwriting.net!

Very cool new features and I wish you continued success with your forum. Thank you very much for this update.

This is really late, but thanks, Jazzy! ^^ More updates and features will soon be coming along.

Some major changes have been made to Psychology of Writing. We now have a new, fantastic, theme made by Mike Creuzer of Audentio Design. Along with that, we have changed the layout of the forums, almost completely. We also decided to prune inactive members, but now we have a more accurate count of how many members we actually have. We will also soon be searching for a couple of new Creative Critics, so if you're a writer or an artist who enjoy viewing and critiquing others' work, make sure to keep an eye out for that. We excited for these new changes and we hope to see you soon as http://www.psychologyofwriting.org!

Current Stats:

Our members have made a total of 6,896 posts in 603 threads.

There had been a ton going on at Psychology of Writing. Our biggest news is our wonderful new theme created by Mike Creuzer of Audento Design. It has brought, not only a new look, but a new, professional feel to the site. I cannot thank Mike enough for the work he had done on the site. With the new theme we have also rearranged our forum layout. We’ve added new sections, omitted some, and edited others. It has all come together rather nicely, but we are still always looking on ways to improve.

We have also brought back out Writing Prompts for those who need a little push to get out of their writer’s block. There is also a new Administrator on the site who has been an amazing help thus far. She was once a Global Critic, but has agreed to give me a hand. We also have two new Critics in Training, meaning, they are not full moderators yet, but they may well be after their trial period is over.

There have also been some changes to the profiles. Now, if you request a buddy, they’ll know about it, and it’ll be displayed on the member’s profile. We have also added the option to add social network sites to a profile. We hope to add a feature that allows users to customize their profile, but currently it is still in the works. Finally, we have also pruned our member base to remove those who had a zero post count to ensure we have actual users and not bots.

That about covers it for now, but make sure to stop by www.psychologyofwriting.org today to check everything out! We can’t wait to see you there!

We're currently in the process of making changes to our profiles. Adding new features and organizing them to make them a bit cleaner. We're hoping to have that completed by the end of the day. ^^
