pet department stores like petco are notorious for it in the states. google it. it's almost as appalling as the factory farming. the ISM to blame for it and almost everything else wrong with the world today is corporatism.
capitalism, communism, zionism, islamism, evangelism and lots of other ISM's are just variations on corporatism. we live in a fascist corporatocracy, another way of saying plutocratic oligarchy.
we need to restore the moral compass of a more tribalistic, egalitarian society, rather than all this competing to be the top dog in the organization that rules the world garbage. recommended reading is the longshoreman, erich hoffer's, seminal work on the psychology of fanatics and the dynamics of mass movements, 'the true believer', which gives some insight into how all this has come to be.
people like orwell, twain, will rogers, kurt vonnegutt, hunter thompson, george carlin and many others saw it as the powers that be convincing people that what was right was wrong and what was wrong was right. twain said it was easier to fool somebody than convince him that he's been fooled.
puppy mills are like that. all you see is a cute puppy and don't know how it's been raised or the health problems it will almost always have. kind of like the butcher section in the grocery store. all you see is a bunch of tasty looking meat.
