Aww, what a cute little puppy. Glad this had a good outcome and hope she gets a wonderful "forever" home.
A puppy has miraculously survived spending a month trapped inside a locked car which had been towed to a compound.
Nobody had noticed the little dog inside the Chevy Suburban car when it was impounded for being illegally parked in Kansas City.
An employee finally noticed the puppy nearly a month later when it jumped up on the dashboard as he was marking vehicles for auction, reports the Kansas City Star.
The dog was taken to the city's animal shelter where staff have named it Kia.
No one knows how Kia survived, but it is believed that she picked through a leftover McDonald's, although employees didn't see any sign of water.
Local government spokesman Danny Rotert said workers at the compound had not intended to neglect the dog and had been upset by the incident.
"It's a pretty miraculous story," he said, adding that everyone was relieved the dog would go to a foster home.
Local vet Billie Deam said: "Without an appreciable amount of water, it's pretty miraculous for a puppy to survive three weeks in a car."
