Put Your Phone Away

When you are out with people, how do you ask people to put their damn phones away without making things awkward?

I think I'd just try to keep them more interested as opposed to asking them to put their phone away. Honestly, it doesn't really bug me, though. The only situation I think it would bother me is if I were on a date, but I haven't done that in over ten years.

Only time I ask is when I'm in the theater trying to watch a movie and there is some one texting on their phone and the light and the constant tapping is distracting me while they're doing it. Disrespectful if you ask me.
