Two self-styled superheroes ââ¬â The Dark Spartan and his sidekick The Black Void ââ¬â have vowed to fight crime and deploy justice to their neighbourhood.
But despite months of patrolling their local seaside resorts, the pair ââ¬â in real life a financial adviser and a shop worker ââ¬â have failed to find any trouble at all.
In fact, police say they are more worried about their safety than the local criminal fraternity.
The couple, both comic book fans, decided to assume their alter egos after being inspired by the British film Kick Ass and witnessing local injustices.
They are part of a growing number of real life superheroes ââ¬â who collectively call themselves the Justice Union ââ¬â and claim to fight crime across the country.
The Dark Spartan, who has only revealed his identity as Will, a 27 year-old father-of-two, dresses up as a warrior from ancient Greece complete with body armour, helmet and an old riot police shield.
The Black Void, a comic book store worker, hides his identity behind a Spiderman mask and uses a cane for protection, like his cartoon hero Daredevil.
He admits to suffering from irritable bowel syndrome which can become inflamed at times of stress if the situation gets a little tasty.
The pair, who bought their outfits on eBay, have a Facebook page and have posted films of themselves in action on the internet site YouTube.
Yet despite becoming regular fixtures on the streets of Torbay, Devon, at weekends, they have yet to make their mark on the local crime statistics.
The unlikely crime-fighting duo feature on a Channel 4 documentary First Cut: Superheroes of Suburbia this weekend.
