What does the term "religious freedom" mean to you?

How much religious freedoms should we allow people in society?

Discuss!

Religious freedom means that you can practice your religion without fear of being thrown in prison & from receiving capital punishment like they do in most, if not all, Middle Eastern countries. Freedom of Religion in the US also equals Freedom From Religion, meaning if religion isn't for you then you don't have to practice it.

Religious freedom to me means being able to practice whatever religion you adhere to without repercussions, but also that you may not impose your own religious beliefs on others. Sadly, America still struggles to separate church and state, which is appalling to me given how much progress we have made.

I would argue there's no "freedom" involved with religion. It's a cult that brainwashes people into believing certain things, to the point where they happily shit on other people of whom their religion says are having a "devil lifestyle".

Depends on the religion I suppose. Are you talking about the christians and catholics?

Agreed. I hate when they come to my door trying to talk to me about god. One of the reasons I don't answer my door any more.

I don't answer my door for several reasons, but this is one of them, lol.

Any religion that disguises hate and discrimination as "the word of our [insert god here]" and forces it down our throat. My ex spent the entire year of our relationship subtly trying to change me to be religious, and finally left when she realized it was never going to happen.

I see religion as a joke that I've never been able to take seriously. I spent a lot of time being angry at my mother for shoving her religion down my throat. My ex wife tried it too after we had kids. After my divorce, I decided to quit dating women that held any kind of Christian belief because when they say "oh I don't have a problem with you being an atheist", it's normally a lie. They'll have a problem with it later on down the road. I honestly don't know why women want to practice a misogynistic religion, let alone proselytize about it. According to 1 Timothy 2:12, Christian women are not allowed to preach or recite scripture to or hold authority over men.

Must be rough to date someone who is pushing their beliefs on you constantly.

I've never dated anyone who was religious, I don't think we'd last long if I did.

At the time when I was younger, I was getting with women just to get laid. I didn't care what god they worshipped until it kept becoming a reoccurring issue and they started making demands of me and disrespecting me because I am an Atheist.
