....the hits just keep on coming, don't they?

Republican candidate Dan Sullivan has won the U.S. Senate race in Alaska, defeating incumbent Democrat Mark Bergich, the Associated Press projected.

Sullivan’s win brings the GOP up to 53 seats in the U.S Senate. First-time candidate Sullivan had led Begich by around 8,100 votes on Election Night on Nov. 4. However, a count of absentee and questioned ballots on Tuesday indicated that Begich would not be able to overcome Sullivan’s lead.

Alaska had been seen as crucial to the GOP’s hopes of winning control of the Senate, but ultimately that was achieved with a clean sweep of the other key states on Election Night itself.(Buzzfeed)

A true ass whipping that is for sure. As I said before I sure hope they do something positive with it.

Now lets see if after January we can put the republicans in that picture.

Somewhere, in the great beyond, Ted Stevens is smiling and thinking, "Thank you, Alaska, for getting rid of Sen. Begich." Now, to be honest, Liberty: back in 2008 (back when I was a liberal/progressive), while I was happy to see Begich win that seat for the Dems', I sure as hell hated the way that he won (i.e. wasn't it just a wee' bit convenient how Sen. Stevens got indicted right before the election?).

Sen.-Elect Sullivan's victory here, in my opinion, is another example of karmic justice.
