Recently I came across an extremely well defined forum that permits members to only use retina quality display images and pictures in signature throughout their forum. This forum also ensures incentivising it by giving them a badge.

How do you enforce such cosmetic set ups on your website? Or are you of the opinion that resolution is hardly something that requires a policy or even a change for that matter?

We definitely don't go to those extremes here.

As long as you can make out the image, it's good enough for us!

I agree that is a touch over the top for a forum. But, if it is working for them then fair play!

Sounds like a hard run forum, they may work at first but I've seen plenty go down in flames because they hold to such high standards.

+1 on this. I think it's way over the top and honestly, it sounds like a good way to reduce user contribution to the forum. You may end up losing out on some good quality content by restricting it like this
