Good on 'em.....

A Richmond, Virginia restaurant refused to serve a group from the anti-LGBTQ+ Family Foundation, citing the restaurant’s desire to protect its LGBTQ+ and women staff.

“Metzger Bar and Butchery has always prided itself on being an inclusive environment for people to dine in,” the restaurant wrote in an Instagram post.

“In eight years of service we have very rarely refused service to anyone who wished to dine with us. Recently we refused service to a group that had booked an event with us after the owners of Metzger found out it was a group of donors to a political organization that seeks to deprive women and LGBTQ+ persons of their basic human rights in Virginia.”

“We have always refused service to anyone for making our staff uncomfortable or unsafe, and this was the driving force behind our decision. Many of our staff are women and/or members of the LGBTQ+ community. All of our staff are people with rights who deserve dignity and a safe work environment. We respect our staff’s established rights as humans and strive to create a work environment where they can do their jobs with dignity, comfort and safety.”

And they should have every right to do so because it’s their business, just like the cake maker and the latest one in the Supreme Court should be able to serve who they want. But I’m sure the left is going to be consistent and not be huge hypocrites and demand they serve these people 🙄

No, you're going to bake the cake or else.

"Nice little business you got here, mister. It'd be a shame if something were to happen to it, know what I mean?"

Yeah the Supreme Court said otherwise, and let them try it with threats in Florida for any business no matter what you believe religiously or politically.

There's ways to make them pay; for instance, see a car with a Florida tag? Pull them over on the least of charges.
Speed trap the hell out of major highways out of Florida.
Treat domestic flights out of Florida as international flights for customs purposes.
Give SCOTUS the Andrew Jackson treatment and see what they do about it.

Etc., etc., etc.

So basically give Floridians the reason to become an independent country. Cool! I’m for it!

Would never happen; Congress would have to approve it and under the U.S. Constitution Congress and three-fourths' of the states would have to agree.
Do States Have the Right to Secede?
But what if we really do want to divide ourselves into actual separate nations? Could we do it?

The late U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia once wrote, “If there was any constitutional issue resolved by the Civil War, it is that there is no right to secede."

Actually, there is.

What Scalia probably meant to say was that there is no unilateral right to secede. One state can't just say, “The heck with you, U.S.A. We're out of here."

What a state (or states) can do, however, is begin the process of seeking a mutually agreed upon parting of the ways, and that process clearly exists, set forth by the U.S. Supreme Court in its 1868 ruling in Texas v. White. That ruling concluded that a state (or states) could secede by gaining approval of both houses of Congress and then obtaining ratification by three fourths of the nation's legislatures. In other words, it's a tough task.

Well I’m not talking about any approvals from the government. I’m talking about states throughout the country North/south/west that begin to just ignore the federal government. Hell it’s already happening with some issues.

Second we do 20 states I believe signed up for a constitutional convention so we’re getting two a year so it’s coming as things get worse.

Y'all tried that back in 1861; how'd it work for you then? Oh wait, you lost.

*deadpans* Always wanted to put my boot to the throat of other Americans....

Gay people get turned away simply for being gay = wrong
Anti-gay people get turned away simply for being anti-gay = wrong

You turn people away if they are being disruptive, obnoxious, verbally or physically abusive. etc.

If they just want to eat and be civil, who cares what their back story is?

Of course it’s wrong and that’s when you put a business out of business by not giving them business, not under the force of a government.

But let’s say it’s a photographer and they want them to do a wedding for a gay couple. The photographer says I’ll do your wedding but I want to be honest my heart is not into it and I would advise you pick someone else who could do the job you want better. Does that person really need to be ruined? Being a cake maker and being a photographer is an art and you really need to be in the moment to create your best work.

I myself have never been against marriage of whoever you want to marry I’ve been against government being involved in marriage of any kind except when the courts need to get involved for a separation. But since I’m not gay and don’t understand being gay, I’d photograph a wedding if asked but my heart wouldn’t be in it and it would not be my best work and it has nothing to do with if I agree or not with the wedding.

You offer a product or service in the public sphere, you better provide it to anyone who walks in the door.
Otherwise, don't offer it in the public sphere.

Disagree, it’s your business, your investment, your choice.

But you're heart would be in it if a straight couple (who are strangers to you) are getting married? I'd assume your heart would only be in it if you had a pre-existing relationship with the client, otherwise you're just doing a job.

And I don't blame that restaurant one bit.
