A comparison between alcoholism and homosexuality by Texas Gov. Rick Perry is raising eyebrows.

At a speech in San Francisco, the longtime Republican governor - who ran for the White House in 2012 and is considering another bid in 2016 - was asked whether he thought homosexuality was a disorder.

"I may have the genetic coding that I’m inclined to be an alcoholic, but I have the desire not to do that - and I look at the homosexual issue the same way," Perry said.

Your thoughts on what he said?

Well being an alcoholic is a negative thing that has adverse effects on your health, It's good to ignore that inclination.

Being gay and not following your heart isn't really the same thing. Why would a person want to be alone forever or marry a woman he's not really attracted to?

I think it is a very poor analogy in the first place. Being gay MAY be a genetic disorder but being gay does not destroy your life of happiness you can achieve. Gay or straight poor choices does that.

The focus is off, what he said about genetics makes plenty of sense. I'm sure there are those who are gay and don't want to be and won't ever do anything with a member of the same sex. Whether those people would be happy... maybe.

Anyway, the focus should be on that he seems to think it's an "issue".
