Roman Polanski, director of such films as Rosemary's Baby, The Pianist, and Chinatown, was arrested in Switzerland this week to await extridition to the United States. He was convicted in the mid 1970's of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor. According to testimony at the trial, Polanski gave this 13 year old girl drugs and alcohol, then raped and sodomized her. Before serving his sentence, he left the United States. It's been 26 years since his sentence was handed down. Polanski is now 76. Do you think he should be forgiven and allowed no jail time, or should he have to serve a sentence in jail for what he did all those years ago?

Discuss.

well, if he did commit those crimes, id say he should serve them. the pianist was a wonderful film though

He pled guilty, so I guess yeah--he did it.

Were it one of my children that were abused, I would want the man to pay for what he did--regardless of how old he was.

Regardless of age or how many films he's directed, things like that have to be punished. What's the justice system for, if exceptions are made?

I agree too. He might as well end it all since he will probably be in jail until he dies.

Roman Polanski should go to an American prison so that a large african american man named Bruiser can do to him what he did to a thirteen year old girl, just without the benefits of Champagne
