[font=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]These days mobile phones, specifically smartphones, are incredibly powerful. They give us the ability to do things we thought we couldnââ¬â¢t a few years ago, such as surfing the web, playing graphic intensive video games and watching HD movies. The physical device has advanced so quickly that we now expect to see LTE-enabled handsets with large displays powered by quad-core processors. Certainly a promising futureââ¬Â¦ but thereââ¬â¢s one important aspect of the device that makes it all work that seems to be stagnating: the battery. Weââ¬â¢ve all been there ââ¬â rushing around to find an outlet to recharge, carrying a spare battery around just in case something happens, or even buying a case that has a huge battery pack installed in it. Having your battery drain on you before 11:00am is not a good thing. Samsung seems to have recognized this and promises a fix, at least an improvement, in 2012.
[font=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Apparently one of Samsungââ¬â¢s goals this year is to ensure the battery in your phone will last all day. Kevin Packingham, VP of product innovation at Samsung, stated in an interview during CES that ââ¬ÅWhen you wake up to when you go to bed, we donââ¬â¢t want you feeling anxiety about your battery lifeââ¬Â. Thereââ¬â¢s some perspective though, the group Packingham is referring to are those in the under average to moderately heavy uses ââ¬â the power users will still need to pack extra batteries. The report stated that Samsung intends to enhance their manufacturing processes and also come out with bigger batteries, but will also improve how the device constantly searches for a Wi-Fi signal and connects to its LTE radio.
