You may be soon.

AFP - Denied the right to travel without consent from their male guardians and banned from driving, women in Saudi Arabia are now monitored by an electronic system that tracks any cross-border movements.

Since last week, Saudi women's male guardians began receiving text messages on their phones informing them when women under their custody leave the country, even if they are travelling together.

Let them. It would completely undermine anything they're trying to achieve.

Do you really think they have the resources to keep track of everyone? The more people they chip the more useless it becomes.

How so?

Just using a middle of the road mainframe and the type of scanners they put over the highway to read your EZ-Pass for tolls they can tell who's going where 24-7, and do so in real time. Couple that with tracking card purchases, cell calls, and when you went in and out of something like the Post Office or even a Mall (remember the sensors at the doors looking for shoplifters? same basic technology) and then.....

.... and then if somebody wanted to know where Evil was and what he's doing they could call up the records and find out.

Echelon did wonders for information tracking. This is just more information.

True, but getting any meaningful data from that system before anything happens would be impossible.

Depends on what 'they' want to do.

If the goal is simply controlling the populace, then they can do that by cutting off your access to funds or limiting your ability to easily travel. If you mean to do something like 'ensure security' and 'prevent crime'... that's probably not even part of the plan.
