All schoolkids will know that if you get your mobile phone out in class, it’s going to get confiscated, and you won’t get it back until the end of the day.

But it proved a little harder for one girl in America, when her dad went to reclaim her confiscated iPhone 6, and found that the school principal was unwilling to return it.

In the clip, the girl’s father can be seen desperately arguing with the principal, who explains that while she’s unwilling to return the iPhone, she can provide a flip phone.

She can also be heard mentioning that the phone will be returned in ‘four weeks’, implying that it’s all part of an extreme punishment.

‘When I’m in these bricks, you can’t tell me what to do’, she remarks, resolutely refusing to return the phone.

And even when the man argues that it’s technically his property because he purchased it initially, she still refuses to return it.

By the end of the video, he explains that he’s ‘called the cops’, but it’s unclear whether she’s still got the phone (she’s pretty scary so she probably does).

Thoughts?

Typical power tripping teacher it's in the "I make the rules when I'm in these bricks" says it all really, it's the principles right to confiscate but I don't see how she has the right to retain it from the parent??? at the end of the school day when her authority is at an end.

That principal needs to be burnt in hell. As a low-end smartphone user (I have a REFURBISHED Galaxy S3 Mini), it's completely absurd and stupid IMO. Also how's her father going to pay ANOTHER two year contract for a brand-new Galaxy S5? I don't know and I doubt he'll do that for vengeance.

How is that if she's supposedly holding the iPhone for extreme punishment, she can provide the girl with a flip phone? Methinks she wants to pocket the iPhone. Or wants to upgrade from a flip phone to an iPhone for free. Nope. That's theft of property and hopefully the police will charge her or she comes to her senses and gives the phone back.

There's a possibility if the iPhone was bought ON-contract. The father must report it as stolen to the network provider. Reported devices are always monitored by the authorities if GPS/Location is on. Then he gets the chance to get a Galaxy S5 instead.

Man,my PSP was never confiscated even if I play it in class.

But this...This is just no.

Exactly. That's theft as Jazzy said and it's unforgiveable in my book. A long time in prison and fired will make her act as a true adult and not some prick who is very ambitious. Also that the iPhone isn't waterproof. If the girl comes back with an Android-powered S5, she might get envious at some point.

I agree with Eezy. Buy law the principal has no right to keep the phone.

By offering a flip phone isn't changing the basis of taking the phone from the pupil. It's still giving them the right to use the phone.

Her "offering a flip phone" makes absolutely no sense at all.

.... She is providing a phone in lieu of providing a phone?

Why not just give back the real phone?

Because it's the latest Iphone and how is that teaching a lesson? Wouldn't it or couldn't it be classed as theft?

I suppose its "temporary theft" because she said she'll give it back in a few weeks.

Seems the principal is friends with the local law enforcement because him threatening to call the cops has no impact on her. She must feel real invincible at this point. :P

It's theft and it IS for a reason. Just imagine if it were the Galaxy S5. The reaction would be different despite being one of the latest Android devices in the world.
