A Belgian school is apparently using drones to stop students cheating in exams.

Thomas More school in Mechelen seems to be following the leads of the US military and retail giant Amazon.

It posted a tongue-in-cheek video showing the drone in action during an exam on YouTube where it has notched up almost 100,000 views.

The clip shows a miniature DJI Phantom aircraft, equipped with a GoPro video camera, hovering over students' heads.

It requires one invigilator to control it while another checks the video monitor for any devious activity by students.

In December, Amazon said it was testing unmanned drones, called Octocopters, to deliver goods to customers.

The drones would deliver packages to customers within 30 minutes of them placing an order but Amazon said it could take five years for the service to get off the ground.

What are your thoughts about this?

HAH

Neat idea but I have a feeling it's going to cost more than just having teachers watching would.

I'd take a slingshot or BB gun and try to shoot it down >.>

Wow... I almost went to school there... Glad I dodged that bullet. O.o

Ridiculous.

So they're doing it because teachers walking around are a distraction... a drone isn't? Seems to me that a few cameras (perhaps rotatable) would be less invasive, less expensive and just as functional.

Cool idea but I'm not sure I could concentrate with something hovering over my head.
Same. At least one of the students was complaining about the noise and by the looks of it it might blow a few papers away as well.
