Scientists just found an active volcano full of heat-proof sharks

Intrepid National Geographic film-maker Brennan Phillips dropped a camera into a submerged volcano crater – called Kavachi – and found two species of shark swimming about in there.

The creatures seem to be totally fine with the high temperatures and the horribly acidic water.

Philips said, ‘‘Sharks started coming after the camera.

Sharks are cool in their own right—all of them are—but a hammerhead is particularly neat looking. And they’re in there, in numbers, inside the volcano! Now I want to spend years trying to study that and why that is the case.
