Scottish tourists 'surprised to find bear on patio'

A Scottish couple on holiday in California have had a close encounter with a bear.

The meeting happened as Bob and Rene McKeown came out of a house in Pasadena where they were staying and headed to their car.

What would you have done?

One time when staying in a cabin up in Northern California a bear would sneak into our fridge and try to eat the food (the fridge was outside on the porch for some reason). We put bungee cords around the fridge and he couldn't get in. All we could hear was the door slamming shut over and over again.

Although its little scary to see a huge bear right outside the window.

I lived in Northern New Jersey in an area called "Black Bear Country". Lived there 2 years and never saw a one. Then one day I went to go in the garage to get my car out and there was a huge black bear in there! It was my fault for leaving the garage door open. Took forever before it finally decided there was nothing to eat in there. Came walking out and went down the driveway.
