The Scottish SPCA is seeking the owner of a foul-mouthed parrot found on the loose in West Lothian.

The Scotsman reports that Scotland's leading animal welfare charity was called in to rescue the cheeky bird on Saturday from a garden in Livingston.

The potty-mouthed parrot, a Timneh African grey, is now entertaining staff at the Scottish SPCA's Edinburgh and Lothians Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre, where he has been nicknamed Sam.

Kenny Sharpe, the centre's assistant manager, said: "Sam is a real character. Not only does he know a vast array of swear words, he also dances and whistles if he feels he's not getting enough attention.

"Sam doesn't have an identity ring so unfortunately we've not been able to trace his owner. Hopefully someone will recognise him and come forward."

Amazing he was found and rescued. I'd be freaking out if my parrot ever got out. In case you're wondering, my parrot does not curse

There was another parrot over yonder that cussed up quite the storm.

It may or may not have been the PM's, but it was most certainly entertaining.

Experts have dismissed the claim that a 104-year-old foul-mouthed parrot once belonged to the war leader Winston Churchill.

Charlie, a blue and yellow macaw, is spending his twilight years in a garden centre in Surrey but his owner Peter Oram says the bird used to live with Sir Winston Churchill in his heyday.

Mr Oram claims his father-in-law Percy Dabner sold Charlie to the former Prime Minister in 1937 and then took the bird back after his death in 1965.

The bird now entertains customers at the Heathfield Nurseries, in Reigate, with a string of obscene anti-Nazi tirades, which Mr Oram claims Charlie picked up from Churchill.
