Is selfishness just part of human nature?

I always want more - more money, more points on the scoreboard, more from a relationship, more more more.

I also don't know how to ask for more.

In me this is countered by self worth issues - I'm not deserving of more, I'm not good enough for more.

Is there a way to break this cycle?

Eventually, you will put others first.
Believe me, I do! It does help when I can make that my sole mission, but still there are quiet moments where selfishness tries to take over.

(Also, being selfish for others takes away the self worth piece 🙂)

…I guess that if you felt that you were deserving of more and good enough for more, then you wouldn’t want more because you’d feel deserving of the Things you had so it’s kind of a vicious circle, isn’t it…you’re not selfish, I wouldn’t feel….its more, trying to fill your self esteem meter and take it up a level…I think that trying to work on your self esteem may help with the cycle and we’re all different in how that can be achieved…I always feel that a good way is to set yourself goals, achievable goals …and then when you do achieve a goal, it gives you a boost, a strength if you like ….achieving a goal is an empowering thing and that will carry forward to help with your next goal, each time feeling the strength of having achieved and not even looking at or thinking about that ‘more meter’ that’s been tugging away at you…achieving those goals and realising the great in you will hugely help self confidence…and help you to feel, yeah, I am good enough….

It is such a "happy place" if you can feel contentment & satisfaction with the things/happiness/good fortune that you do have. ie: the old saying of, "you don't have to look very far to see someone less fortunate than yourself". :)

Everyone should establish a balance of looking after yourself and your best interests while also taking others into consideration. If you ONLY think about yourself then thats no bueno.
