How much personal information will you publicly post?

How much personal information will you share with a person/people you've become comfortable with (maybe in a private forum, a PM, email, etc)?

How personal is too personal in your opinion?

When you see other people posting their own (potentially self-harming) personal information? Does it make you feel like that person is being foolish?

My occupation, things regarding my zoo crew and my interests.

I have a trust issue since I've been burnt before. If I become friends with a person that I feel I can truly trust, they get the following information: My real first name, my private email address, the state I live in (not the city/town), how old I am, and if I REALLY trust them a picture of myself.

Supplying your city/town and state, the exact name of where you work, giving out your private contact me infomation and posting a picture of yourself. *I posted a picture of myself only once. A psycho bitch nicked my picture. She the used my picture all over different sites pretending it was her. Took a lawyer and money to get her to stop*

I shudder when I see this. Might as well draw a map to your house and post that too.

As much as you've seen. Some skills and hobbies, interests, opinions.

Basically the same, though obviously not everything at once. Comfort speeds up the sharing.

Too personal? When people can track you without your IP... when people you've never seen know more about you then people you see every day.

Their choice. I'm not about to interfere or give it much thought. Doesn't mean I'll do the same though.

None at all, i don't post my age, birthday. I even have whois opt out on my domain name so people do not know who I am, my view is they don't need to know my personal details to enjoy my site, plus if I am a member of a forum why do people feel then need to tell complete strangers everything and some go as far as to air their dirty laundry in public.

I publicly post the country in which i live, my age and my hobbies etc, nothing too bad.

No more than i share with anyone else, i post what i feel comfortable with.

When they give the town/city they live in, post pictures of themselves, share there school, talk about friends etc.

Yes, the internet is a dangerous place and sharing too much information can end badly.

I really don't post that much personal information besides my interests and hobbies. I rarely include my age and my gender is never mentioned. I don't even directly say I'm human, so for all you know I could be an alien rhino from the moon. The only thing I share without a second thought is my email address since if I really wanted to I could change it. It's really not used for much anyway so if I had to make another one it wouldn't be a huge deal.

Two or three people know my full name and soon my new address since I'll be sending them mail from this location very soon, haha. I sometimes share my real name, which I have mentioned it here once or twice. I've been here for a long time and have known a couple of the members for many years so I am a lot more loose with these details on Off Topix than any other forum. Some of you even know which state I live in now, which isn't shared openly.

Honestly, even knowing an individuals gender and age I find too personal.

I don't think I have much of an opinion on this.

The way that I see things is, a name is just a word, and they won't be able to tell one Jane Doe from the other Jane Doe. It starts getting danger whenever you reveal personal information including street address or home phone number. I don't see any reason to have much paranoia of revealing the state you live in, or your first and last name, that's just me.

Very true but it's not always paranoia. Some people just don't like sharing, haha.
