What are your thoughts? There is much controversy surrounding them. I myself know how unhealthy they are, but certain areas completely ban them. Some cities, many schools, etc. What are your thoughts?

Personally, it doesn't affect me if someone else drinks one, and once the legal age, someone should be free to decide what they put int their body.

At a middle/high school level, I'm all for them being banned.

Your thoughts?

I agree that there should be some moderation.

I personally don't like how they make these drinks sound so glamorous to market them off to young people. It's like every vending machine I go they have to be selling a red bull or monster - never any fruit juices. And if they do sell the fruit juices they are usually somehow more expense than the energy drinks!

But that's what drives our society - supply and demand. The demand for these confections are high. People love drinking them and the companies will be more than happy to continue marketing and subsidizing the hell out of it.

If people want to ban them from their school then they will just get their fix elsewhere and banning them everywhere would just push people to go outside of this nation to get their fix. If people have a problem with people drinking it then they should make a convincing argument for it and show why it's in their best interests to not drink the stuff instead of forcing bans down people's throats.

A convincing argument? Isn't your health convincing enough?

And I’m not trying to say energy drinks are bad, let’s bootleg them. After all this is what happened in prohibition and just about any time where there are hard restrictions on a popular demand.

But why can’t there be some accountability? Schools should offer and encourage healthier alternatives. The companies who produce them shouldn’t be as pervasive in their campaign to market their product out to children. If it starts anywhere it starts there.

No, they shouldn't.

I have never had an energy drink myself though. To tell you the truth I have always thought they were too expensive!

They are pretty bad, yes. You can get deals, they end up costing as much as a bottled pop usually for me.

I just buy the soda instead.

If they banned every thing that was bad for you, we'd have nothing left! Anything can be harmful if abused. Its up to each person to decide what they are going to drink or eat.
