Signature Limits

Not for a few years at this point, honestly, but I have been on forums with some extremely strict signature limits, such as no external links, no text-based links, no images with urls in them, no images over a certain pixel height, no images over a certain filesize, text signatures can only be "x" lines high, etc. Some get really into enforcing signature rules!
I hate signature limits, let me put in there whatever I want.
I won't put porn in it, I swear
I believe admins should handle problem signatures on a case by case basis.
If someone puts in a giant image that takes up a whole page then yeah, edit that.

I try not to create too many signature limits.
I don't mind links (no adult or spam) but I don't want it to look like a skyscraper of links down there.
I've seen signatures that are way too big. Some that flash so much they want to make a healthy person seize.
I think its important to be generous with signatures but to a point.

Like the one in the spoiler I posted above? Gives me a headache just looking at it. Lol

I had to add a rule after someone tried to put entire 1024x768 signature image in there. The rule we added ended up being pretty lax and it's never had to be strictly enforced since nobody has tried to do that since. As long as the signature link doesn't take 3/4 of the whole page, I don't really care. When I see rules like that, I usually just assume there is a story behind them. 
Some forums don't allow links in their signatures (some of the larger forums are known for this, particularly ones with a certain brand around a corporation or a business). I see their reasoning for doing that, but I think that's a little too strict in my opinion.

I've seen that before an just shrunk it myself, edited the siggy and then sent the member a PM letting them know I did so.
