SouthingtonSOS, in Southington, Connecticut, is offering a $25 gift card to people who turn in their violent video games, which the city will destroy.

People handing in their video games, movies or other violent media will receive a $25 gift voucher for other forms of entertainment, reports IGN.com.

SouthingtonSOS claims their 'Violent Video Game Return Program' will not lead to censorship.

Oddly, the group is not calling for people to turn in their guns, which can actually cause death.

SouthingtonSOS - which includes members of the Chamber of Commerce, YMCA, board of education, fire department, town officials, United Way and local clergy - says they are not doing this drive because of similar calls by the National Rifle Association.

SouthingtonSOS released the following statement:

The group's action is not intended to be construed as statement declaring that violent video games were the cause of the shocking violence in Newtown on December 14th. Rather, SouthingtonSOS is saying is that there is ample evidence that violent video games, along with violent media of all kinds, including TV and Movies portraying story after story showing a continuous stream of violence and killing, has contributed to increasing aggressiveness, fear, anxiety and is desensitizing our children to acts of violence including bullying.

What ample evidence are they talking about?

Any way, do you agree/disagree with their statement?

How about books? Do I get $25 for each violent book I hand in? I have a lot. I also have old tickets to a performance of Macbeth. Can I get money for that?

Ooh ooh! What about my TV? There's violent shows on all the time!

Fuckin' idiots.

I'm sort of inclined to find violence in movies and books to send them now...

Exactly, there's no way this is a profitable venture.
