Is it best to ban or delete a spambot?

How do/would you deal with a spambot?

:spam:

Delete. What's the point of just banning them, aside from keeping the +1 to member count?

This. I have no more to say.

I'd go with delete. They're spam.

Delete always. I'm kind of meticulous when it comes to stuff like member lists and I don't like fake members clogging up those pages. People should be able to look at a member list on a forum and see actual humans who posted on the forum.

IP Ban then and delete all their threads always. If you leave the stuff up it looks like you can't handle your own community. It's very rare that a spambot gets through and when it does, I look into my Capatcha administration panel to see how it got through...I have pretty rigorous spam protection services in place. On xenForo, if you ban the member, it automatically removes them from all member lists so that's not such a big deal.

Yeah but you still have a misleading number in your stats on the index page where it says "Total Members"

true

We'd probably have 3,000 "members" here by now if we never deleted zero posters and spam bots. I'm happy with a smaller, legitimate number. :)

Delete. They're gonna crowd the member list.

In the early stages, they get deleted. I imagine if you had a large userbase, it'd be difficult to delete spam users.
