Speed Cameras

Whoever invented these should be shot.

No they are good though, cuts down on people running red lights and possible accidents/deaths that usually result from that.

I remember my dad got fined for someone else speeding past him, the camera was at a weird angle apparently, he actually took the case to court and he got compensation (think it was like £500).

Knowing you're being watched is definitely a motivation to driver better, so I guess they're good.

I don't think so. Interestingly, in the state of Florida it is illegal to put cameras on stop lights to catch people who run them. The counties however use loopholes to put the illegal cameras up anyway.

...There alright. They do good when they catch people speeding, but they are a pain in the backside. Plus they must be a mian source of income, other than taxes for governments.

I would strongly oppose this, simply because all the speed limits around here are 35mph and 20mph in school zones. No way I'm driving that slow. Sure, I'm fine with them being used for running red lights, but for speeding, no.

So when a child runs out into the road in front of you, and you're speeding, don't have time to stop, hit the child and kill him/her, you still won't drive slow around a school zone?

And speed cameras don't catch red light runners. Red light cameras do.

Well, the school zone runs the flashing lights for 20mph from about 2:00-4:00 The time that it is running for the high school there are no pedestrians and just high school kids leaving the high school. For elementary, there are probably kids on the streets for about 10 minutes. For middle school, the same. When I see kids I slow down yes, but the speed lights run for 2hours straight when 80% of that time at least there are less than 3 pedestrians on the sidewalks. When there are pedestrians I can understand slowing down. I'm not about to kill any kids.
