Steiff originally started as makers of stuffed animals, but now I think they are more known for the bears.

You'll always know a Steiff bear by the gold button in its ear.

My favourites have always been the classic collection of bears. http://www.steiffteddybears.co.uk/steiff-classic-range/

Never heard of a Steiff bear.

How big is your collection?

Only just started. So that one. I called it Bluebell

I've always wanted to start collecting them, but they are expensive.

Nope. The most common materials used in Steiff toys are alpaca, mohair, felt, and woven plush. Eyes are generally made of wood or glass, and the stuffing is commonly wood shavings or polyester fibers. A large amount of the work is done by hand.
