I'm having a little PC trouble, and hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. Recently my PC has had a bit of a tantrum regarding languages it will display. But only in certain programs. I can view and input Japanese characters in my web browser, but in my media player and some other programs such as Last.fm they display as squares, which is a little irritating as a lot of my favourite songs are now only determinable by hearing them, rather than seeing the titles. When I try typing their Japanese titles into the media player, it displays only boxes.

This didn't start happening until my last restart, but I can't think of anything I changed that would invoke this kind of alteration. Help, please?

Maybe you managed to change your default font by accident? I remember changing it (on purpose) in XP once, some funkier characters wouldn't show up anymore.

Did you manage to get this sorted?

I have managed to solve it. Took a bit of a workaround though. And I have to say, thank god I can read Japanese. I had to switch my OS completely to Japanese. If I switch to English the issue returns, so I can't determine what caused this at all.
