A new live-action Street Fighter feature film is in development at Legendary Entertainment, IGN has learned.
Legendary Entertainment now holds the rights for live-action film and television adaptations of Capcom's Street Fighter franchise, the company announced today. All projects from Legendary will be developed in conjunction with Capcom. Today's announcement didn't reveal any details about the upcoming film.
The production company has previously dipped its toe in the video game world with its Detective Pikachu movie. Legendary is also responsible for Dune, Enola Holmes, and the modern Monsterverse movies.
The Street Fighter franchise live-action movies before, with the most famous being 1994's Street Fighter starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. Another attempt was made with 2009's Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, which starred Kristin Kreuk as the iconic character.
