Do you prefer forum staffer's to be strict or easy going? A mixture of both? How easy going is too easy going? How strict is too strict?

Share some stories of your dealings with overly strict staffers and with staffers that are the opposite.

Neither. I prefer forum staffer's who are fair and not play favorites.

The happy-medium, somebody that keeps a levelheaded attitude but knows to put his foot down whenever things are getting out of hand. Too strict, you take all of the fun out of it, too easy going, you take away order, and without order, there is chaos. If there is chaos than half of the kids will become savages and Roger will drop a boulder on Piggy.

I dealt with enough strict things in my life... like strict parents, teachers, supervisors, being a strict parent myself...etc. I don't need a staff member to be strict with me. Forums are not a neccessity, they are for pleasure, fun, and enjoyment. I like easy going staff. If I post in the wrong place, move it... don't come down on me. Mistakes get made. Blah blah blah... easy going and fair for me.

You have to have some medium. If you are found to be easy going, there will always be someone who will take advantage of it. Rules are important; also enforcing them according to situation is important. Two people could break the same rule, but they can be completely different situation. So I would never use a do this get 3 day ban kinda thing.

Mostly easy going. That way the board members would like the atmosphere of the forum & stay longer & also refer others to it. Although at some point when the limits are crossed, you have to be strict or your forums gonna earn a bad reputation & lose new members & eventually even posts.

I say a bit of both. The staff on a forum need to be strict with their members sometimes but not too strict.
