A month ago my crew and I were called to the scene of a motorcycle accident. The motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed and the driver lost control. The motorcycle left the road, skidded down an embankment and hit a tree. The driver when we got there was laying beside the motorcycle. Upon doing an initial examination at the scene, I knew that this guy was going to wind up a quadriplegic. I was hoping I was wrong but it turns out I was correct. At the scene, the guy told me to leave him alone and let him die. I, of course, ignored him. We got him onto to backboard and called for Life Flight. Life Flight arrived and took him to the trauma center.

Last night when I went to work, there was a note for me. The note said that <insert name> wanted to see me before he got transferred out to the rehabilitation center. I recognized the name as the guy who was in the motorcycle accident.

What happened next, really shocked me. When I went into his room, he started yelling and cursing at me. He said: I f**king told you to let me die. Now look at me and what you did. I'm f**king trapped now in a useless body. I'm going to sue the shit out of you. Get the f**k out of here!

I didn't say a word and just left the room.

Sue me? What the hell for? Did I cause the accident that caused his life changing injury? Oh, boy, I've heard some crazy crap but this one takes the cake!

I'm not surprised at all.

I don't know if your state has the shield law that protects First Responders or not.

Do they?

Yes, I am protected against this sort of thing.

I can understand the sentiment... but yeah... It's not like you were wrong, Jazzy.

If he wants to die so badly he can do it himself.
