Alright,

You guys are going to be the only ones I can open up to about this. You might of noticed me AWOL(Missing) the last month or two. It's because I went through a lot of life altering things and hit a depression. LONG story short, I was sent to a shrink. We talked over my life from beginning to present and of course, he wanted to medicate me.

When I was a boy I had severe OCD/ADHD anyways this doctor thought even though i'm 26 he was going to prescribe me Ritalin. He gave me Ritalin and an Anti-Anxiety med.

The first week, I was fucked. I was tweaked. I'll be honest. I was prescribed to take 80 MG a day, in four time intervals of this Ritalin stuff. Now after a week and missing 72 hours of sleep, I crashed and balanced on the meds.

The month as gone by and today he tripled my dose and I'm all nervous and not myself. Its 3 am and I can't sleep. I'm fighting a force not to take another Ritalin.

I am a smart guy and have been on the drug scene and bar scene in the past. I know the shit is a speed and meth relative just synthetic. But its like im trying to hard to not abuse it but then I look on the ground and I get "ritalin tricked"

This is when I think I see Ritalin on the floor and pick it up.

Ritalin is the devil.

Can you see a different doctor?

After a bunch of forms and the thing is the first week I was on it I was really messed up and fought the temptation to abuse but now im at 60mg four times a day and thats lethal and I feel so up and like messed.

I fight with my own words and thoughts, I pace a million times a hour around my house.

FFS I cleaned the house three times.

:( So sorry it's doing that to you!

I am reminded of my mom who was bi polar and wasn't the same person when she was on the prescribed drugs (like a lethargic zombie)... when she didn't take them she was really moody and impossible to be around. Seems like a no win situation if you're on or off your meds. Have you tried different doses and seeing what amount of medication works for you?

The was my next thought @Nebulous but at the same time, im not a doctor so I dont wanna risk making an imbalance.

But at the same time I don't wanna get addicted and abuse them.

Well yeah, that makes sense. I'd recommend seeing a different doctor for a second opinion. Couldn't hurt. :dontknow:

I think so its going onto 4 am and Ive cleaned the house multiple times. Wrote a essay on my life and keep going pee. I feel damn high off these things, but the only positive is no anxiety and Ive never been damn happier!

Sounds like you have a lot of energy. :s
Did you tell your doctor about the sleeping issues?

So i've been on them a month, today he tripled my dose. The first week a month ago I had major sleep problems and excessive energy. I called him, he told me they will subside. Which they did after a week. But now on this triple dose, I cant imagine them subsiding. I really think the dose is high and dangerous.

Just look up Ritalin Binge and stories on google. Its the number one controlled substance prescribed that is addictive and abused.

But I have my thoughts in line and the no sleep doesnt bother me. I know I have to crash eventually. Worse thing is my morning dose is in two hours and thats gonna perk me right up.

I sort of know how you feel. I don't have health insurance right now, so I haven't been on anti depressants in a long time, not since 2009. I was taking stuff for anger, depression, and anxiety.

Honestly, EUH, you know your body better than a doctor does. If you feel like that is too much medication and it's making it difficult to function, you need to tell your doctor that you're afraid and that you need to be on something that HELPS not HINDERS. I was once a guinea pig for my insomnia and anxiety in terms of sleep medication. We went through maybe 5-7 medications trying to find one that worked, but finally, after getting into Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I decided to ween myself off them all and it was the best decision I made. I managed to get my anxiety attacks under control with the tools I was given in CBT. And although I still experience daily anxiety, I am not having panic attacks like I was two or three years ago. I am in therapy again now after some shit came up, but I searched around for a therapist I liked and who I felt would benefit me. So far so good. You need to mention to these professionals anything that concerns you. Don't just let them brush you off. Have it addressed so that you can start to feel better, not worse.

I had ADHD as a kid and when I was put on Ritalin and as soon as I was put on it I just wasn't hungry anymore. Barely ate anything at dinner, didn't have lunch most days nor breakfast. I just wasn't the usual me.

As soon as I was taken off it I felt hungry and started eating proper decent sized meals and actually started eating chocolate. Ritalin made me hate chocolate =/

Ritalin works on some, makes others worse.

I'm not a doctor... and Nebulous probably has the right idea about getting a second opinion... but this doesn't sound even remotely healthy.

Rather. I once read the list of side effects on someone's Ritalin. "Spontaneous death" can't be right.

I read in the Chat thread this morning that you were feeling badly and was going to call the doctor. I hope you come back and update us as to how you're doing. We all are here for you if you need us.

Yes, keep us updated!

Sending good luck vibes!!

Ritalin is the devil.

i don't think ritalin is the answer for you like your doctor thinks...

i'd give it up and move on to something else, or just try to figure out to beat your depression...

Thought I would keep you updated. He switched me to different doses on both Ritalins on the Instant and Slow releases and today I feel great. But he raised my anti-anxiety and depression med to even it out.

I slept from 9 am yesterday until 6 am this morning. I guess the dose was high and it over stimulated me, because I tell you before I slept yesterday and was up for 57 hours straight, I felt like some tweaked out dirty crack head. I had never felt so dirty.

The come down was powerful but I was smart and phoned my doctor.

I resume work today and really, it's a blessing I recovered so quick and feel good. But I have told my doctor I want to stay on these doses for a while until I feel that I need to switch.

I really think everyone should google Ritalin because I do need it, but it is a powerful drug and it's ruined lives. Many people abuse it and get stuck on it.

Luckily for me I had control and even though I wasn't abusing it, I did have a bad of effect of getting to high on it from a doctor dose increase.

Again, if any of you get put on mind altering drugs in life and you notice negative changes, use my lesson to contact a doctor right away, because the effects can take a toll instantly.

Like many people said above, only you know your own self and body.

Good, good!  Always listen to your body and never just assume a doctor knows what he's doing because he is not you and cannot feel the effects of the medication first-hand. You are the only person who can tell if something is working or if something is hurting you, so I'm glad to hear you listened to your worries and gave him a ring. I hope this new dosage helps you rather than hinders you. Just need to keep on top of it if anything starts to feel wrong or like it's not enough.  Good luck to you!
