Hawaiian professional surfer Bruce Irons lights up the surf off the Indonesian coast in a dramatic flare stunt.
For Bruce Irons, a 31-year-old professional surfer from Hanalei and the younger brother of three-time world champion Andy Irons, this ride was one with a difference.
Attaching a flare to the back of his board, he illuminated the dawn waves around the Mentawai Islands off the western coast of Sumatra, Indonesia.
Aided by a pyrontechnics team, the surfer created tunnels of light as he rode the tubes with his modified board.
It ended up turning out a lot, lot cooler than I could ever have imagined, I m pretty stoaked, Irons said after the early morning stunt.
Bruce Irons is a member of the Red Bull Minor Threat team, one of eight surfers dedicated to the sport.
