What is the difference between sushi and sashimi?

Sushi is a much broader term than sashimi. The latter refers to raw fish which is sliced and eaten usually without the rice. Sushi, however, does not need to be made of raw fish. Basically, if it is served with vinegared rice, then it can be considered sushi.

Do you prefer one over the other? What is your favorite sushi? Favorite sashimi?

hate it.

wouldn't touch it with a barge poll

I love it.......

I prefer sushi at times...sashimi...not a big fan of. Just saying.

I don't eat completely raw sushi, but I will have a sear salmon nigiri, which is essentially "toasted" salmon on the top, so partially cooked and still slightly raw underneath near the rice. Everything else I eat sushi-wise is cooked or just veggies.

That sounds delicious.

It's soooo good, especially if they put a nice sweet sauce on it.

Y'all got me hungry now.

I like sushi but not raw versions. I usually get sushi with cooked shrimp tempura or something like that. I think sashimi is more raw isn't it?
