April 27, 2011, will be a day I'll never forget. First of all, I'd like to say I'm fine and doing well. Fortunately, the tornado just missed us. However, it did hit the house up the street from us and many others as well in the area. Today, being the fifth day without power, I'm glad to say the power is back on. I'm not complaining, because I know that thousands don't even have a house to see their power restored, but life without power is another world, it truly is.
On April 27 our school was delayed two hours due to the hazardous weather. Upon our arrival to school, we were ushered into the building because another tornado warning had been issued for our county. After an hour, the warning was lifted and we resumed to our normal schedule. After a couple hours we get an announcement over the intercom that school was getting out at 12:15. However, coming around 12PM the siren started going off and we went into the hallways. After about an hour we thought things were getting better, but 15 minutes after getting some relief another storm hit and the power went out. Finally, around 3PM we were released and allowed to go home. We get home and the power is out. At the time, we thought it'd be about an hour or two before power was restored, but we were greatly mistaken. 120 hours, or 5 days, later we were restored power, just today. It was an adventure, it really was. Nonetheless, we've safe and we've been brought closer together. I'll post more details later, but for now, I'm going to help around the house.
