A row has broken out in Texas over a tailgate decal which makes it looks as if a woman has been tied up in the back of a pick-up truck.

Passers-by called police after seeing the realistic sticker which was produced as an experiment by Waco firm Hornet Signs, reports KWTX.

Brad Kolb, the owner of the company, said the sticker was put on an employee's truck to gauge how realistic their decals are.

"I wasn't expecting the reactions we got, nor do we condone this by any means," he said.

"It was more or less something we put out there to see who noticed it."

Kolb said an employee volunteered to be tied up and was photographed so the decal could be made.

Some viewers told News 10 they called police when they saw the decal, although Mr Kolb says he hasn't been questioned by officers so far.

"Abduction or any violence against women is not funny or cute," said one complainant.

However, a supporter of the decals argued: "This American business owner has a decal that made the news. Like it or not, it works."

What do you think about this decal?

"Abduction or any violence against women is not funny or cute,"
I agree and putting something like this on the back of a truck just to see what people would do is not really necessary in my opinion.
