Apparently, taking photographs of aircraft even when inside of one is considered an act of terrorism, as this source says. Seriously, that makes no sense at all

Three suspicious passengers on board taking pictures = security risk = all passengers deplaned = great job by TSA.

Well if you think about it, it could be classed as terrorism. Since people could in theory be taking photo's of the inside, so that they can map the layout of the plane, and then hijack another similar plane.

You've got a point. I didn't even think about that, to be honest.

Must have been stupid terrorists!

All you have to do is Google the inside of any plane and get the layout. Here is an example:

But you have to think about how the company's change the interior of the plane.

For example, two company's can buy an Airbus A380 (biggest plane in the world), and it has two floors. One could decide to turn it into a luxury plane, with a bar, casino and shops on the top floor with seats on the bottom floor. And the other company might put loads of seats on the top floor and the bottom floor.

Interior's of planes vary from company to company.

Very true Dragon but if I can get the flight number then I can get the seating/layout of every plane flying.

Probably. But then again, blue prints of the plane and photo's of the interior = Good intelligence.
