A 19-year-old girl received $45,000 after a NYPD police officer flirted with her and then tried to arrest her for charges he allegedly made up two years ago, New York Post reports.
Natalie Erlich says she was hanging out with friends when Officer José Peinan came up to her and said that she and he were matching because they were both wearing camouflage. She laughed and walked away, but Peinan followed her and asked where she was going. She told him she was going home and asked him if he was a cop, to which he answered, "Maybe."
Erlich says a van with four more officers pulled up immediately and Peinan ordered them to handcuff her, telling Erlich he was arresting her for "being a smartass." She also says police frisked her and one of them touched her breasts before taking her and her friend to the station. They didn't release her until the following morning.
All charges against both teens have since been dropped, but the creepiest part of this might be that Peinan has also been named in three other suits that the city had to settle, which means he somehow keeps saving his job while taxpayers pay for him being a creep.
