Three Portland, Ore., teens demanded a classmate's skateboard, money and iPad. Then, according to prosecutors, they assaulted him with a crowbar and a BB gun, and carved a swastika into his forehead.
Jenna Montgomery and Blue Kalmbach, both 15, and Jess Taylor, 17, have been charged with varying degrees of assault, kidnapping, robbery and unlawful use of a weapon related to the February incident. They are being charged as adults. Bail has been set at $2.9 million each.
A fourth suspect, who is 14, faces less serious charges as a juvenile.
"There is no understanding what they did," the victim's mother, Kelli Murrain, told KPTV-TV. "Roll it around in your head and you just go, 'Oh my God.' For the grace of God, I could have lost my youngest son."
The victim, who was treated at a local hospital, told investigators he was lured to a backyard shed by Montgomery and struck in the back of the head with a crowbar. He was shot in the chest, groin and index finger.
Police reportedly told the press that the victim was perceived as a bully and the teens were retaliating.
Montgomery told investigators that the teens came up with the plan the night before. "She stated that they had all discussed a plan to lure him over to torture him," according to an affidavit.
