So I'm curious to know what others think about this.

If you design web sites and know HTML/CSS/Javascript does that make you a Programmer???

Does it mean that you know C++/C#/Java etc???

Is there a difference you think?

In order to be a programmer, one must know how to code in C++, Java, C# and have better knowledge of MySQL databases.

I don't consider HTML and CSS to be programming, although CSS3 can get pretty complex :|
Beyond that, if you've seen one high-level object-oriented language, you've seen 'em all. Functional programming languages can get weird though. And memory management's a pain.

I agree that high-level programming is a pain in the arse. I'm new to C++ and most of the programming languages around. I don't really consider myself a programmer yet because I am still learning them.

I do however consider myself a Web developer. I know HTML/CSS and have a vague understanding of Javascript. I also taught myself MySQL.
So with that being said I think that the difference between the two is pretty big. I only ask because I have met people who develop web pages and consider themselves a programmer.
I really think it's all in the miscommunication of what a person understands to be a programmer.
