Now this is one thing that really annoys me. I go to introduce myself in an introduction forum of the board I have joined and one of the admins points out to 'read the rules'.

Now either they have the same rules that every other forum in the planet has, or they have none.

I have actually been on a forum where I was told to read the rules and there wasn't any and me and the admin started an argument and finally I won because he noticed the rules were in his staff hidden forum.

In an introduction topic I just want to be able to be welcomed. Not have the rules thrown at my face.

I don't like that either, especially when it comes from a non-staff member. I used to say something but now I just ignore it when it happens, not worth acknowledging

It's up to each person if they read the rules to avoid being banned. They do not need to have a link showcased about it. If they are not read then they are not read.

Most of the time I don't even bother making an intro post, screw it lol.

What double pisses me off on a forum is if you introduce yourself and the admin has some automated welcome message. It shows lack of dedication from the admin as they are too lazy to welcome their own members manually.

Yeah, often times I'll post an introduction and maybe two members will welcome me. On other forums when they tell you to read the rules. It makes them all look like a hard ass and it makes me feel they're just waiting for me to screw up so they either remind me to read the rules or give me a warning. I tend not to stay active at forums like those.

i never did that to forum members when i were a admin or staff member...

the most i'd say was "if you need anything just let me know"...

Yeah, it's annoying when people tell me to 'read the rules'. I'll read the damned rules if I want to, yo.
